Southland Marine Metre2 Teacher Workshop

Join Environment Southland scientists, education team, and the director of University of Otago’s Marine Studies Centre for a practical workshop about coastal monitoring using the Marine Metre Squared Project.

Location: Mokomoko Inlet, Omaui

  • how to undertake a Mm2 survey in a coastal environment
  • how to identify and record your findings
  • how to be part of the long-term monitoring programme
  • what marine study resources and support are available from Environment Southland for teachers
  • about the work of Environment Southland’s science team

Bring…

  • your own device able to connect to internet (wifi available)
  • extra footwear and clothing suitable for an estuary trip (any weather)

Workshop Outline…

8.30am: Meet at Environment Southland for an introduction to the workshop
Travel to Omaui to carry out estuary survey and data collection
Return to Environment Southland where lunch will be provided
Review and upload findings to the Mm2 website
3.30pm: Finish
