Moanamana, engaging akonga in the mana of the moana

A collaboration between Marine Metre 2 and Yachting NZ (RŪNĀ curriculum) is supporting schools to monitor ocean health around their boat clubs as part of the Moanamana. This programme was highlighted at the Auckland waterfront during the Moana Festival (February 24 – March 16), where over 600 students were involved in trialling some of the tools developed for the investigation the health of the health of the moana. Students from Worser Bay school have been trialing these tools to investigate the marine ecosystem around Worser Bay Boating Club (Wellington) and are driving the establishment of a marine conservation area as part of the Moanamana programme.
