Mudflat whelks play a useful role on the shore, cleaning up dead and decomposing animals. They may also tackle live animals, especially if they are weak and therefore slow to recognise a threat and escape. In these two videos see how these tiny whelks manage to tackle a mudcrab much larger than they are.
